Different Types of Smoke
10/15/2021 (Permalink)
There are two different types of smoke – wet and dry. Before restoration begins, SERVPRO of Tarzana and Reseda Technicians will survey the loss to determine the extent of impact from fire, smoke, heat, and moisture on the building materials and contents. The soot will be tested to determine which type of smoke damage occurred on the property. This helps us determine the proper method to clean your property and allows us to focus on saving your belongings.
Different Types of Smoke
Wet Smoke (Plastic and Rubber)
Low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean.
Protein Fire Residue (Produced by evaporation of materials rather than from a fire)
Virtually invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, and has a very bad odor.
Dry Smoke (Paper and Wood)
Fast burning, high temperatures, heat rises therefore smoke rises.
SERVPRO of Tarzana and Reseda technicians are trained to handle even the toughest losses.
